Big Girl is dark comedy web series that follows the misadventures of Katie, a plus size woman living and dating in New York City. As the creator of Big Girl, I wrote the show after growing frustrated with the representation of plus size women we see in t.v. and film over and over again. I didn't see myself. The "sad fat lady" trope is tired and, frankly, boring. I wanted to create a character who is striving to succeed, no matter what the world throws at her, and I wanted her to win! Plus-sized women are full, beautiful, flawed human beings with interesting, funny, sexy, and smart stories to tell. Big Girl is one of those stories, and I’ve partnered with Brazen NYC, a feminist, indie film company to tell it. Stay tuned!
